In order to support SC, ST, and PwD candidates who have not secured direct admission to IITs, a one-year preparatory course is offered. This course is designed to prepare these candidates for the academic challenges of the IIT programs they have been allocated to, ensuring they are well-equipped for their studies.
Seats reserved for SC, ST, and PwD candidates that remain vacant after the regular admission process will be allotted for these preparatory courses. Admission is provided under the following conditions:
1. The seats reserved for the respective category are vacant.
2. Candidates satisfy the minimum norms set for the preparatory course.
3. Candidates have not accepted a seat in the preparatory course in a previous year.
Selected IITs will conduct these preparatory courses, which are of one-year duration. The courses are tailored to help SC, ST, and PwD candidates prepare for the academic programs they have been allocated for the Academic Year 2025-26. Upon completion of the course, candidates are evaluated and declared as either ‘pass’ or ‘fail’. It is important to note that the institute conducting the preparatory course may be different from the institute where the candidate will eventually pursue their undergraduate program.
Candidates who successfully complete the preparatory course will be granted direct admission in 2025 to the undergraduate course at the IIT originally allocated to them. This ensures that candidates are academically prepared for their studies.
Candidates admitted to the preparatory course in 2024 are also eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025, provided they fulfill the other eligibility criteria.
The process of filling in choices for preparatory courses is conducted through the JoSAA online portal. Candidates must ensure they complete this process as per the guidelines provided by JoSAA.
The preparatory courses offered to SC, ST, and PwD candidates are an essential support system that ensures these candidates are well-prepared to succeed in their IIT programs. Understanding the eligibility criteria and the process of enrollment is crucial for candidates seeking to benefit from this opportunity.
