WBJEE has two OMR papers — Paper I Mathematics (100) and Paper II Physics & Chemistry (100) — for an aggregate of 200, each 2 hours. Questions span Category I (1 mark, −0.25), Category II (2 marks, −0.5) and Category III (2 marks, no negative, multiple correct). The General Merit Rank (GMR) is on total aggregate (no board weightage); a separate Pharmacy Merit Rank uses Paper II alone.
In WBJEE, your All India Rank is decided by your marks relative to everyone else, so the marks needed for a given rank move every year with paper difficulty. At the top of the scale a few extra marks can be worth thousands of ranks, while lower down the curve flattens. Use the year-wise tables below to compare your target marks against the closest matching cycle rather than a single fixed chart.
Here is the year-wise WBJEE trend so you can compare your target against the closest recent cycle. WBJEE General Merit Rank (GMR) is built purely on aggregate marks out of 200 (Maths + Physics & Chemistry), with no board blend. 150+ lands roughly the top 50–60 (Jadavpur/IIEST top branches); 100+ typically keeps a candidate under ~1,200.

What is GMR vs PMR?
GMR (General Merit Rank) is from your total aggregate (Maths + Physics & Chemistry, out of 200) for B.Tech. PMR (Pharmacy Merit Rank) is from Paper II alone for B.Pharm.
Are board marks counted?
No. The WBJEE rank is based entirely on the exam; Class 12 board marks are only an eligibility requirement.
What rank for CSE at Jadavpur University?
CSE at JU is the most sought branch in West Bengal; the General GMR closing rank was around 120–125 recently — you typically need a score above 150.
Is there negative marking?
Yes, for Category I (−0.25) and II (−0.5). Category III has no negative marking and may have multiple correct options.
What is a good score?
Above 150/200 is excellent (top 250); above 120 is very good (top ~800–1,000); 100+ generally secures a rank under 4,000–11,000.
Medium and mode?
WBJEE is offline (OMR) in English and Bengali, held in two 2-hour papers on a single day.
