Introduction
For candidates aiming to qualify for IIT admissions through JEE Advanced 2024, meeting the aggregate marks criterion is essential. This section outlines the specific requirements for aggregate marks, with particular emphasis on candidates from SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Criteria for Aggregate Marks in Class XII Examination
The aggregate marks scored by the candidate in the 2024 Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination will be considered for candidates who will appear in the Class XII examination in 2024. Candidates must ensure that they achieve a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (or 65% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates).
For candidates who appeared in the 2023 Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination, their aggregate marks will be considered provided they do not reappear in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2024 in any of the subjects.
Improvement Exams and Aggregate Marks Calculation
If a candidate had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) in 2023 and wishes to improve their aggregate marks to meet the 75% criterion (or 65% for SC, ST, and PwD), they can reappear for any number of subjects they wish to improve. In such cases, the percentage marks will be calculated by considering the marks obtained in 2023 or 2024, whichever is higher, in the respective subjects across the two attempts.
This provision also applies to candidates who first appeared for their Class XII examination in 2022, but whose examination Board declared the results for the academic year 2021-22 on or after September 21, 2022.
Important Note on Marksheet Submission
The marksheet submitted by candidates for their Class XII (or equivalent) examination must be issued by a single examination Board. Marksheets from multiple boards will not be accepted.
Conclusion
Understanding the aggregate marks criteria is crucial for candidates seeking admission to IITs through JEE Advanced 2024. Candidates should carefully review their marks and ensure compliance with the specified requirements to secure their eligibility for admission.
