JEE Advanced is a crucial examination for students aspiring to gain admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). For the 2024 edition, there are specific guidelines and criteria for foreign nationals and OCI/PIO cardholders who wish to appear for the exam. This blog provides a detailed overview of the eligibility criteria, registration process, fee structure, and necessary documents for these candidates.
Candidates who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) and are NOT OCI/PIO candidates who secured their OCI/PIO cards on or after 04.03.2021 are considered as FOREIGN NATIONALS. Foreign national candidates are NOT required to write JEE (Main) 2024. They may register for JEE Advanced 2024 directly, subject to the fulfillment of other eligibility criteria.
These candidates will be considered in addition to the 2,50,000 Indian national candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2024. Seats allotted to foreign nationals will be supernumerary, with a cap of 10% of the total number of seats in each course. These candidates are outside the ambit of reservation for GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories.
As per the decision dated February 03, 2023, by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, OCI/PIO candidates who secured their OCI/PIO cards before 04.03.2021 are considered Indian nationals for the purpose of JEE Advanced 2024.
OCI/PIO cardholders who secured their OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021 are required to fulfill Clause 11 in the Information Brochure and must be in the Open and Open-PwD rank lists in JEE (Main) 2024 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. At the time of seat allocation, these OCI/PIO candidates will be considered for seats in the OPEN category. They will be included in the Common Rank List (CRL) and/or CRL-PwD list, as well as for Female Supernumerary seats, subject to qualifying JEE Advanced 2024.
OCI/PIO candidates in this category are NOT entitled to reservation benefits under GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, or ST categories.
