The National Sports University (NSU) Entrance Exam is not a standard MCQ test. It is a comprehensive evaluation typically totaling 100 Marks, split across three or four critical segments.
Note: Weightage varies slightly between UG (B.Sc./BPES) and PG courses.
The written component focuses on Sports Awareness, Reasoning, and General Knowledge. Unlike other exams, you must be updated on:
- Olympic History and recent Indian medalists.
- Sports-specific terminologies (e.g., 'Love' in Tennis, 'Bully' in Hockey).
- Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology (Class 12th level).
- National Sports Awards (Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award) recipients of 2025-26.
Since the physical test often follows the written exam on the same or the next day, you must carry:
- Proper Sports Attire (T-shirt, Shorts/Track pants).
- Running Shoes (Spikes are usually allowed only for track events).
- Personal Sports Equipment (Racket, Bat, Guard, etc.) for the Proficiency Test.
- Hydration (Glucose/Electrolytes) and light snacks (Bananas/Energy bars).
| 50m Sprint | Tests explosive power and speed. |
| 1000m Run/Walk | Tests cardiovascular endurance. |
| Standing Broad Jump | Tests lower body strength. |
| Overhead Back Throw | Tests core and upper body coordination. |
Reporting time is usually 9:00 AM sharp. You must carry original documents as physical verification often happens at the testing center:
- Admit Card: Two printed copies.
- Sports Achievement Certificates: Original copies of National/State/District level participations.
- Medical Fitness Certificate: Signed by a registered medical practitioner (mandatory for physical tests).
- Photo ID: Original Aadhaar Card or Passport.
During the Game Proficiency round, examiners aren't just looking for points; they are looking for **Form, Technique, and Temperament**.
- Warm-up: Never start the skill test cold. Spend 15 minutes stretching.
- Showcase Basics: If you are a footballer, focus on clean passing and ball control rather than just flashy tricks.
- Discipline: Respect the coaches and officials. In a sports university, "Sportsmanship" is a graded trait.
